As a result, the area has changed from the outskirt of the city to the center, production workshops began to move away, and the old industrial buildings were facing urban renewal and function upgrade.

THE OVERLOOK
A designer is no stranger to layers. We use them every day to edit photos, create graphics, lay out content. But layers are
outside our computer screens as well, all around us.
A field of blue ink screen printed on yellow to make green.
A light layer of fabric hanging on your shoulders.
A slice of time sliding transiently by.
We learned from each story we helped tell, and this issue offers a new momento with each read.

INFORMAL FORMALITY
The Manifesto of Open Source Urbanism
The future of cities and urban lifestyles are talked about in this book, and even though these assumptions are highly based on studies and researches, they are not predictions or prophecies. This book is simply pointing out the directions where city developments are leading us, and the possibilities that people might face in the near future. Then, this book concludes with a new theoretical ideology and an alternative urban typology that is relatively adaptive to current urban environment. Again, it is not a design excises to address and accommodate all the existing or potential issues mentioned. Instead, this could be seen as a manifested reality that tries to prevent important issues and negative possibilities from being ignored.

TIANFU COMMUNITY CENTER
Farmers Market
Concept Design Awarded
Dismantling is to remove the damaged and additional remnant courtyard. Raising the house means raising the roof by 1.2 meters to improve the lighting inside the building and create a comfortable space. Mending, i.e. the two broken houses have the same courtyard, but they are relatively independent. To make the houses closer, consider deriving the technique of ‘porcelain repair’ into the building so that the two independent roofs and the two disabled buildings are connected, redefining the spatial relationship between them.
